Files never leave your device. All conversion runs in your browser — no uploads, no accounts, no tracking.

Text stays text

Real vector conversion — your text is not turned into pictures. Search, copy-paste and OCR layers keep working.

Works on scans

Scanned pages and full-page images are recolored too, including fragile FineReader scans with OCR layers.

How it works

  1. Drop a PDF. It opens instantly with a dark preview — page one renders right in the browser.
  2. Pick a theme. Soft Dark is tuned for night reading (light grey on near-black, not harsh white on black). True Black for OLED screens, Warm Night for less blue light, or dial in your own colors.
  3. Download the dark PDF. The converter recolors every page with precise blend math and gives you a new file that opens dark in any reader, on any device.

Not another “invert my screen” hack

Most dark-mode tricks — OS smart invert, browser extensions, reader themes — only change how a PDF looks on your screen. They break on long documents, turn photos into negatives, and vanish the moment you send the file to your tablet, Kindle, or a colleague.

This tool converts the document itself. White backgrounds become a deep, comfortable near-black; black text becomes soft light grey. The result is a normal PDF file: keep it, print it, send it to your e-reader.

And unlike many online converters, pages are not rasterized. Text remains real vector text — sharp at any zoom, fully searchable, and your OCR layer survives.

Made for night readers

Frequently asked questions

Can you turn a PDF into dark mode?

Yes. Upload the PDF above, pick a dark theme preset, and download the converted file. The document itself is converted, so it opens in dark mode in any PDF reader — no extensions or special apps needed.

Does PDF have night mode?

The PDF format has no built-in night mode. Some readers can recolor the view, but that setting lives in the app, not the file. Converting the file itself gives you a permanently dark PDF that works everywhere.

How is this different from Dark Reader or a browser extension?

Extensions restyle web pages — and sometimes a PDF viewed in the browser — but they cannot produce a dark PDF file you can keep, print, or send to a Kindle or tablet. This tool converts the document itself.

Does it work on scans?

Yes. Full-page scan images are recolored too, and the invisible OCR text layer is preserved, so text search and copy-paste keep working after conversion.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. All processing happens locally in your browser with client-side JavaScript. Your file never leaves your device — you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
